Highlight

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 25, 2026

Highlight is developed and maintained by Ricardo Guillen. This policy describes how the Highlight iOS app handles your data.

The short version: everything stays on your device. Highlight does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. There are no servers, no accounts, and no cloud sync.

What Highlight stores on your device

All data you create in Highlight — events, reminders, photos, notes, locations, and app settings — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Your widget extension accesses the same local database through Apple's App Groups mechanism so your home screen and lock screen widgets can show your upcoming events. No data ever leaves your device through the app.

System permissions

Highlight may request the following permissions, only when you use the relevant feature:

You can revoke any permission at any time in iPhone Settings.

No analytics, no tracking

Highlight does not use analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, crash reporters, or any third-party tracking. The app contains no third-party code.

Your rights and data control

Because all your data is stored locally on your device, you are in full control at all times. You can delete any event or all events from within the app. Deleting Highlight from your device permanently removes all associated data. There is nothing stored remotely for us to access, export, or delete on your behalf.

Children's privacy

Highlight is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted at this URL and the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Continued use of the app after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
